Postpartum Doula Services

With the birth of a baby comes the birth of a mother.

"The most difficult part of birth is the first year afterwards. It is the year of travail -when the soul of a woman must birth the mother inside her. The emotional labor pains of becoming a mother are far greater than the physical pangs of birth; these are the growing surges of your heart as it pushes out selfishness and fear and makes room for sacrifice and love. It is a private and silent birth of the soul, but it is no less holy than the event of childbirth, perhaps it is even more sacred." — Joy Kusek

As a trained Newborn Care Specialist I have a high level of in-depth, industry-specific training that exceeds the qualification of standard postpartum doula services. Click here to find out more.

Daytime Postpartum Service

My support is fluid based on your family’s daily needs. I’ll be on hand to help with newborn care, diapering, naps and feeding. I’ll offer support with breast or bottle feeding, and help with positioning and latching. I’ll provide resources to relevant services and help your family learn and become comfortable with bonding methods. I’ll help with older siblings and household chores. And most importantly, I’ll be there for you mama.

One of the biggest complaints I have heard from new mothers throughout the pandemic has been an intense feeling of isolation. Dedicating every waking and sleeping hour to care for your new little bundle can be both heart-achingly fulfilling and honestly, just a little bit lonely. As you’re putting me to work around the house fetching and washing and cleaning and laundering and cooking and ironing, I’ll also be on hand to offer you companionship, and a non-judgemental ear for anything you feel you want to share. Believe me mama, if you’re feeling it, I probably have too, and there will be zero judgement from me if you just need to let it all out every now and again.

Overnight Doula Service

You’ve heard it said, those first few weeks with a newborn can be a lot. A lot of diapers. A lot of crying. A lot of spit up and cracked nipples and staring blankly with wonder at this beautiful being you’ve created. It’s a lot. But there’s one thing you certainly won’t be getting a lot of: Sleep. Yes, you’re going to become a total pro at waking to every murmur your sweet little sleep-stealer makes, and you’ll wonder how you ever complained about not getting enough sleep pre-parenthood.

But I’m here for you mama.

I offer a postpartum overnight doula service so you can sleep peacefully, knowing your baby will be well looked after. I will be present for 12 hours, from 7pm to 7am to attend to your baby. I will take note of early hunger cues and bring your baby to you before she is frustrated. I’ll burp, change and soothe your little one back to sleep, so you can truly rest.

And believe me, you’ll feel like a new woman by the next morning!

Two Week Postpartum Meal Plan $289

Not to toot my own horn, but I’m a pretty good cook when given the time, and pre-babies I’d often spend many a luxurious afternoon cooking up a storm, with my music playing and a bottle of wine… I was even a chef in a 25 person ski chalet in France for a couple of years.

Nowadays of course I frantically throw anything together and call it a meal before my two year old decides he cannot wait another second for his lunch and screams the house down. You know how it goes, or you soon will!

All that to say, wouldn’t it be nice to come home to a magically filled freezer full of delicious home-cooked meals? Especially when you’re navigating the early days of keeping a newborn alive when running a comb through your hair is suddenly classed as ‘self care’?

I offer a postpartum meal plan that would make a very nice gift if your mother-in-law wanted to treat you to something thoughtful to say thank you for making her into a grandmother.

Here’s the deal - I offer you a choice of meals, you choose 7 you like, you make sure there’s room in the freezer for 28 packaged meals and give me access to your kitchen for a day, and that’s it! Your work is done! You and your partner will dine like kings for two straight weeks.

I plan, I shop, I chop, I sauté, I clean, I leave. I’ll even plate up two meals for that evening if you like, and leave you a home-baked treat to say thanks for having me!

Meal options include Thai coconut and chicken soup, lentil and smokey eggplant stew, chicken and chickpea curry with turmeric roasted cauliflower, hearty chicken casserole, roast beef… etc etc etc. Of course I can cater for dietary requirements and provide a full breakdown of expected food costs. You want organic veggies and grass-fed beef? No problem! You tell me what you want, I’ll sort it mama!

“As Americans, we are under the impression that new moms are 'Superwomen' & can return to life as it was before baby. We must remember to celebrate this new mother and emulate the other cultures that honor new mothers by caring for them, supporting them, & placing value on the magnificent transformation she is going through. This is the greatest gift we can give to new mothers & newborns.”
